Biography

Brian was admitted as a solicitor in N.Ireland in 1988 and practised in a Belfast city centre firm until 1991 when he moved to the international law directorate of the European Patent Office in Munich, Germany. There he regularly represented the EPO before the internal market directorate of the European Commission as well as the UN’s World Intellectual Property Organisation in Geneva. Brian has presented on European IP law frequently throughout Europe, the USA and Asia and was asked to provide expert training on behalf of WIPO in developing countries. Brian returned to N. Ireland in 2018 after more than 25 years in Munich and was called to the Bar of Northern Ireland in 2021; he is fluent in German and French.
