Michael Bowsher QC was called to the English Bar in 1985 and was made Queen’s Counsel in 2006
He spent the early years of his practice in the Brussels office of Cleary Gottlieb before returning to London to full time practice in 1992. He has been a member of Monckton Chambers in London since 2001.
Michael became involved in numerous commercial disputes in Northern Ireland from the mid nineties and was called to the Northern Ireland Bar in 2000. Since then he has continued to devote a considerable proportion of his practice to work in Northern Ireland, particularly on matters where his particular skills and experience can be brought to bear. He has been in numerous High Court trials in Belfast across a diverse range of activities, but particularly in matters involving construction, waste, energy, public sector services and health.
He is also called to the Bar of Ireland (2012).
Michael is particularly well known for his practice in the field of public procurement involving the tendering and performance of contracts entered into by public bodies. He has been involved in many of the key cases in Northern Ireland and England in this field. He has also built a diverse practice around general competition law and commercial regulation. He is also frequently involved in commercial disputes as barrister, arbitrator or mediator concerning contracts to which public bodies or utilities are a party.
