News and publications

We are delighted to announce Dementia NI as our charity partner for 2025.We started our fundraising events programme for the year with a coffee morning attended by Bar Library members.

Welcoming Dementia NI to the coffee morning Laura King BL, Charity Committee Chair, commented: “The Bar is committed to giving back to the community and we are excited to work in partnership with Dementia NI in the year ahead. Many of our members have experienced the pain and difficulty of coping with a diagnosis of dementia within their own families so this will be a cause close to their hearts. We have no doubt they will show the unfaltering support they are renowned for in supporting our programme of events.

Dementia NI was founded in 2015 by five people living with a diagnosis of dementia to enable them to have their voices heard and improve dementia services for themselves and others. It was the vision, drive, skills and knowledge of those five founding members that helped to shape the organisation.

Speaking about the partnership Clare Watson, the charity’s CEO, said: “We are delighted to have been selected as the Bar’s Charity Partner for 2025. This year also marks Dementia NI’s 10th Birthday, and we are looking forward to an exciting year of activities ahead, working with the Bar Library to raise vital funds and awareness of Dementia NI.

The Bar’s Charity Committee have a full calendar of events planned throughout the year including taking part in the Belfast City Marathon, Family Fun Days and a Gala Ball.
