Consultation Response: Review of Scale Costs and Recent Procedural Changes in the County Court

The County Court Rules Committee issued a consultation in March 2016 following a review of scale costs and practice & procedural changes in the county court which were introduced in 2013 as a result of the increased general financial jurisdiction of the county court from £15,000 to £30,000. The Committee proposes to increase scale costs by 3% to take account of inflation with phased implementation over a two year period with a 1.5% increase in 2016 and a further 1.5% increase in 2017.
However, the Committee intends to consider practices and procedures in the County Court more fully once Lord Justice Gillen’s Review of Civil and Family Justice is completed. View the Bar’s response to the consultation.
