Lord Neuberger World Bar Conference Speech

​The speech by Supreme Court President Lord Neuberger, given at the 2016 World Bar Conference in Edinburgh, stresses the importance of independent advocates as “a very precious asset to a modern civilised society”. Citing respected and independent judiciary advocates as “essential ingredients” of the rule of law, the speech adds that “in a world where the laws conferring rights and imposing duties are increasing both in quantity and in complexity, the need for expert impartial advice and representation is greater than it has ever been”.
