The Bar of Northern Ireland was delighted to support the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission’s Annual Lecture which took place earlier this week.
Lady Chief Justice, the Right Honourable Dame Siobhan Keegan opened the lecture which saw the keynote address provided by Dr Michael O’Flaherty, the Commissioner for Human Rights at the Council of Europe. The topic of this year’s lecture was “Uphold the Rule of Law; Resist the Pushback”.
Speaking before the lecture the Chair of the Bar Council Donal Lunny KC commented:
“The Bar is pleased to collaborate with the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission in welcoming Dr O’Flaherty to Belfast and the Royal Courts of Justice.
“In doing so, we commit to promoting education in and awareness of human rights across our jurisdiction.”
