Raising the Bar on Fundraising in Memory of Treasured Colleague

News and publications

Simon Community, Northern Ireland’s leading homelessness charity was delighted to commend members of the Bar Library for their fundraising efforts recently.

Following the sad loss of their treasured colleague Tim Ferriss QC in February 2014, Barristers Noelle McGrenera QC and Adele O’Grady, together with a host of colleagues and family members, put their best foot forward in the Deep River Rock Belfast City Marathon in May this year.

The funds raised were donated to Simon Community in light of Tim’s previous work with the charity and given his genuine interest in campaigning for the rights of people in Northern Ireland without a home.

Alyson Kilpatrick BL, Chair of Simon Community

“On behalf of residents and staff of Simon Community, I’m delighted to be able to thank my colleagues at the Bar Library for their efforts in raising £12,550 for the charity. This is a tremendous amount and will go a very long way to helping us achieve our goal, which is to ensure that homelessness is ended in Northern Ireland”.

Mark Mulholland QC, Chairman of the Bar Council of Northern Ireland

“For many years, the Bar Council has counted it an honour to support the exceptional efforts delivered by local charities in Northern Ireland. On this occasion, it has been our privilege to pay tribute to Tim Ferriss QC, a truly exceptional man and the charitable cause which was so close to his heart”.
