Threshold Purchase Bus After Bar Fundraising

News and publications

In 2015, the Bar of Northern Ireland selected Threshold, a key provider of specialist therapeutic services for children, adolescents, adults and the elderly who suffer from mental health problems for over 30 years as our Charity of the Year. Threshold provides residential services as well as outreach work for those who can remain in their own homes. With the funds raised, Threshold have now purchased a minibus to enable greater access to their services.

Dr. Raman Kapur, Chief Executive of Threshold said;

“The donation from the Bar of Northern Ireland of £17, 500 is very welcome, and enabled us to secure a great deal on the minibus. This has enabled us to arrange more outings for our residents who have used the bus on trips to Newcastle, Dundrum and for shopping. The bus is used across our six residential units and we have put a booking system in place, so as you can imagine, it is always in great demand!”

Sinead McKeagney, Chair of the Charity Committee explained;

“I want to thank Threshold for inviting the charitycommittee back to see how the funds raised are being invested. It is wonderful to see the tangible benefits of our efforts and hear first-hand the difference it is making to the lives of service users. I heard from residents Cahill and Peter about their wonderful day trip to Newcastle and how much they enjoy the new service. I want to thank all our members who made donations last year –your effort has been truly worthwhile.”
